Dr. and Mrs. Alvin R. Posey, DDS'65 Continuing Education Lecture

Ever since his first days as a dental student, Alvin R. Posey, DDS'65, (1936-2018) was an integral part of Creighton University and the School of Dentistry. With his wife, Ruth, by his side, Dr. Posey touched many lives in his 40-year dental practice in Enid, Oklahoma. For 34 years, he served on the School of Dentistry's Alumni Advisory Board and was a team leader for the Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) program in the Dominican Republic. His loyalty and service earned him the school's 1988 Alumni Merit Award. The Poseys established an endowment to provide continuing education for School of Dentistry alumni. The Dr. and Mrs. Alvin R. Posey, DDS'65 Continuing Education Lecture annually provides state-of-the-art science information to Creighton alumni at the school's Dental Assembly.

To honor the Poseys, gifts to this endowment can be made online at creighton.edu/development.

Theodore J. Urban, PhD Memorial Continuing Education Lecture

Theodore J. Urban, PhD, (1926-1990) came to Creighton in 1954.  He was a faculty member, Chair of Oral Biology , and Associate Dean in the School of Dentistry.  He received the University’s Distinguished Service Award in 1984, and was honored four times as Outstanding Teacher of the Year. Dr. Urban was a tireless advocate for and men-tor to his students.  He never failed to offer a guiding hand or a needed admonishment for the personal welfare and professional development of all his students.  He quietly accomplished whatever needed to be done, always with a smile and sense of humor. Dr. Urban’s presence in our dental school is truly missed.  However, with this endowment, his memory and legacy will be permanently preserved through an annual lecture that is part of the continuing education program at the School of Dentistry. The Dr. T.J. Urban Memorial Lecture Series was founded by the generous support of one of Dr. Urban’s former students.
