What is NIL and why does it matter?
Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) refers to a student-athlete’s legal right to profit from their personal brand. As of July 1, 2021, the NCAA allows college athletes to earn money through endorsements, sponsorships, social media and other opportunities. NIL matters because it gives athletes control over their public persona and the ability to generate income while competing.
Does this course count toward the NIL Certificate?
Yes, this course is part of the NIL Certificate. To earn the full certificate, you’ll need to complete a total of four courses.
What is the time commitment?
This course takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and features short video lessons and interactive learning.
How is the course structured?
This course is online and self-paced. You can start anytime and progress on your own schedule—ideal for working professionals and student athletes.
