Full program description

The Health Law for Professionals certificate program provides legal and healthcare administrative professionals with the in-demand skills to expertly navigate legal and ethical challenges in health law, during a time of swift transformation.

In this program, you’ll take four courses that consider healthcare law through a forward-thinking lens. You’ll look closely at a variety of subjects including the issues arising in U.S. healthcare law and policy, navigating healthcare law business transactions, and many other topics.

Standardized testing (LSAT, GRE) is not required for admission into the certificate program. One need not be a healthcare professional or lawyer to qualify for admission into the certificate program.

All classes are delivered in an online asynchronous format. This is a 12-unit certificate program consisting of required coursework. All course materials (texts, articles, videos, links, etc.) will be provided.

The four courses of Health Law for Professionals include:
Law and Regulation of Healthcare will explore the licensure, accreditation and regulatory processes and structures that shape healthcare and related fields.
Healthcare Transactions and Contracts will dive deeper into the relationship between the health and law industries by exploring the business and legal issues that arise in healthcare business combinations and transactions.
Public Health Law and Ethics will discuss the significance of understanding public health law for both legal professionals and lay people, and the crucial part played by different tiers of government.
Legal Issues in Healthcare Innovation and Leadership will examine trends in healthcare innovation and consider the role of the law in those innovations. Additionally, explore the varied issues faced by leaders in healthcare through this course.
