Course Overview
Heart failure affects more than 6 million adults in the U.S.—but with the right knowledge and strategies, it’s possible to improve outcomes and quality of life. In this noncredit, self-paced online course, you’ll learn how integrative care approaches—such as nutrition, movement and behavior change—can reduce the risk and impact of heart failure. Grounded in evidence-based practice, this course offers practical tools for healthcare providers, caregivers and anyone seeking to better understand heart failure through a whole-person lens.

Amy Cosimano, EdD, RN, DipACLM, NBC-HWC is a faculty member in Creighton’s Integrative Health and Wellness MS program, with over 20 years of experience teaching in the College of Nursing. She specializes in whole-person care, personalized health, lifestyle medicine and healthy aging, and is dedicated to providing evidence-based instruction that promotes lifelong wellness.

What You’ll Learn
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Define heart failure and recognize its most common causes and symptoms
- Understand the role of integrative lifestyle interventions in preventing and managing heart failure
- Apply evidence-based strategies—such as physical activity, nutrition and stress management—to reduce the risk and burden of heart failure

Through practical guidance and real-world examples, you’ll learn how integrative care—blending physical, emotional, nutritional and lifestyle support—can be used across healthcare settings to deliver compassionate, effective care to individuals with heart failure.
